The Yorkshire Football Forums
Hello and welcome to THE PRIDE OF YORKSHIRE.

This forum was set up on the 5th of September 2009 in order to give Yorkshire football fans a place to come and interact with fellow fans of all 10 league clubs in our county.

We operate a controlled environment, with each team having their own forum and moderator, to ensure everyone has equal rights. The main reason this forum was set up, was to allow its members the freedom to express themselves without the restraints some other 'multi-club' forums adopt.

However, abuse of other members will not be tolerated. Please keep discussions civil. If you are not prepared to behave appropiately, please don't register. Friendly banter between rival clubs is encouraged, personal abuse towards other members will result in a permanent ban.

Some sections of this forum are restricted to members, so to enjoy the full benefits of the site please register. Registered users also enjoy this website without the advertisements at the top of the page.

THANK YOU for visiting THE PRIDE OF YORKSHIRE and we hope to see you posting here in the future.

Doncaster Rovers have asked Inverness Caledonian Thistle for permission to speak to manager Terry Butcher about the vacancy at the Keepmoat Stadium, STV has learned.

The League One side are the second English side to make an approach for the boss on Monday, with Barnsley having been granted permission to hold talks with the former England international defender.

The Inverness board met on Monday afternoon to consider Barnsley's approach. STV understands that Doncaster Rovers have now also asked for the opportunity to speak to the in-demand manager but have not yet had a response from the Highland club.

Doncaster Rovers are currently in second place in English League One but are searching for a new boss after Dean Saunders agreed to join Wolves on Sunday.

Inverness chairman Kenny Cameron said after allowing Barnsley’s request that the club were hoping Butcher would remain at the Caledonian Stadium.

“We have given Barnsley permission to speak to Terry,” he said.

"Given our current position in the SPL and the fact we have a cup semi-final on the horizon, it is inevitable that if any managerial positions that come up our management team will no doubt be on the radar.

"We will be doing everything possible to ensure that Terry remains with the club and finishes what has been an incredible journey to date for us all."

Ex-England international Butcher has taken Inverness CT to second in this season's Scottish Premier League table, taking 34 points from their 21 matches this season. He is the longest serving manager currently in the SPL.

Caley Thistle are also through to the semi-finals of the League Cup, where they are due to face Hearts on January 26.

Butcher was appointed as manager at Caledonian Stadium in 2009, having spent time with Sydney and Brentford after leaving Motherwell in 2006 after a four-year spell in charge.

The 54-year-old has also managed Coventry City and Sunderland. Capped 77 times by England, Butcher was also Scotland's assistant boss during the reign of George Burley.
