Steam Trains
anyone interested about steam trains actually out under steam.
Sir Nigel Gresley on the move this Friday from Grosmont over to York.
Hope to get out of the office for pics as it comes throuh Boro. Should be past the subway near Mcdonalds between 11.40 and 11.45.

Not massively but I do like to see them and when I can travel on them. I can see why folk are passionate about them though, if I had more time , money and energy I would certainly spend more time on this subject.

Got to admit i love steam trains,they just have something about them, probably stems from me having an Hornby train set wheni was a kid, and we do come from the town that gave us the Flying Scotsman and Mallard,if you manage to get some pics maybe you can put some on here.

I got pics of it the other week when it was through Thornaby.
Hoping to get out of the office as it passes very close to the pathway on the way to boro ground. should only be a few feet away if I can get there.If not its back through on Sunday.

missed the bugger, my lunch was set for 11.40 g9iving 5 mins to get to the trackside, which is do able but some bloody woman customer on the phone was so slow a 20 minute call took 45 mins. Never even noticed it go past the office windows.

The wife's father used to drive the Old steam trains, he was a steam fanatic. Even worked on the old model railway at Albert Park

Oliver Cromwell passing through Thornaby and Boro roundabout 2pm Thornaby and 2-10 cutting through on to the Whitby line at back of Cinema and Mcdonalds.

aye my dad and both grandads were railway men so its been in my blood an awful long time.
love days out in York NRM but the wife`s not too keen so half day round the shops then a couple of hours draging ger round the trains.
Doing Leeds on saturday morning then York on the way back so hope to get a couple of hours with the trains.

Saw Tornado as I passed through York on way to Leeds. Too late to get the camera out as our train was packed and on wrong side.

I was in the Scouts at the time we helped with the restoration, well sort of swept up and polished if I remember rightly
and on the day itself I sold programmes.
Can't remember much more about it only 11 at the time except fancying Valerie

Wow, i did not actually think anyone would have actually been there , how times change can you imagine Health & safety killjoys letting that go off today with kids standing on top of trains etc.
