I don't like the idea to be honest i don't think he could cut the mustard in the championship
and if the fee that people are saying is true i hope he gets kidnapped by somali pirates wile on holiday and not released untill the transfer window is closed half a million for a 4th division player is a bit over the top

i dunno what to think about this tbh because on one hand he is a good player but on the other i do agree that maybe he would be out of his depth in the championship. i trust robins enough to leave it with him he will know what to do Smile

I think he would be superb for us! I would love it if he signed for us tbh. He scores goals, and after a game like yesterday, he is the sort of player we are crying out for!

DoncasterTyke has a point 26 goals is a good yardstick of a quality striker in form, 52 goals Nightmare? Since when did any player in any Division ever score quite that many. Where he comes from (i.e. Div.2) is irrelevant , every player starts somewhere although a reported £ 1/2 million does sound steep I agree!! Shocked

Mark Robins is a very good manager and will have assessed this player adequately I'm sure.

Erm yes generally but he has to have a team that will create adequate chances and ensure that he himself is in the right place at the right time against more experienced defenders.

You don't find players like ALF too often, and he is a 'Michael Owen' what people always talk about, and if he is available we should go for him imo.

Bristol City took a punt on Nicky Maynard from Crew. They paid 2.5 mill for him, he has developed into a great striker imo. If ALf is available for 700k, just go and get him!

Depends on the finances though doesn't it ? Mr. Cryne has a lot at stake with this FSA case he is involved in and of course ALF spends alot of time training and interacting with our team and management at the Keepmoat!!

Paul Hayes is on a free transfer in the summer

is mate hooper wont be wanting to play in the 3rd division after the season he's had

Billy Sharp is proving he can do it week in week out

if your risking half a million i'd rather put another half to it and try and get one of them two who have shown they can hack it in the championship

I'd take a chance on him if we could get him for 100 grand like Rotherham did, but half a million is too much

I disagree mate. ALF has scored 26 goals in a poor team. Alot of the chances he has had, he created himself. He's not just a poacher, he has skill, a superb first touch & a fantastic strikers instinct. 500k is not unreasanable, im sure he'll go in the summer & I for one will feel cheated if we don't get at least that for him.

Do you need him though, or more importantly can you use him it bulk up your attack .I think he would work well with Boggy but it depends who you would offload come the end of the season.
