CARL DICKINSON is today awaiting results on a scan which will determine whether his season will be cut short by injury.
The 22-year old defender, who has spent the majority of the season on loan with Barnsley, had been a regular starter for the Tykes prior to picking up a knee cartilage tear during their stalemate against Crystal Palace two weeks ago.
"I've had an injection in the knee and we're waiting to see if that settles it down," he explained. "I am seeing the specialist shortly and he's going to have a look inside the knee to see the full extent of the damage.
"Touch wood, there'll be nothing serious and I'll be playing again before the end of the season. But whatever happens, I'll have to make sure the knee is totally right before I do play again because I don't want to rush it and end up with more problems."
The Derby-born full back has made 27 appearances for Mark Robins' side, having joined the Club along with fellow Potter Ryan Shotton in September last year.
Upon their arrival at Oakwell, the Tykes were languishing in the relegation zone, however, they have since helped turn the fortunes of the Club on its head, and Dickinson says they still aren't ruling out the possibility of reaching the top six.
"It's been brilliant for me to be playing football every week," he commented. "The League is that tight that if you lose a couple of games you are in a relegation fight, but if you win a couple you are up near the play-offs.
"We just need a bit of consistency to push for those play-offs and we certainly haven't given up on them yet."
