The Yorkshire Football Forums
Hello and welcome to THE PRIDE OF YORKSHIRE.

This forum was set up on the 5th of September 2009 in order to give Yorkshire football fans a place to come and interact with fellow fans of all 10 league clubs in our county.

We operate a controlled environment, with each team having their own forum and moderator, to ensure everyone has equal rights. The main reason this forum was set up, was to allow its members the freedom to express themselves without the restraints some other 'multi-club' forums adopt.

However, abuse of other members will not be tolerated. Please keep discussions civil. If you are not prepared to behave appropiately, please don't register. Friendly banter between rival clubs is encouraged, personal abuse towards other members will result in a permanent ban.

Some sections of this forum are restricted to members, so to enjoy the full benefits of the site please register. Registered users also enjoy this website without the advertisements at the top of the page.

THANK YOU for visiting THE PRIDE OF YORKSHIRE and we hope to see you posting here in the future.

Morecambe Empty Morecambe

Post by NIGHTMARE Thu 6 May - 7:07:14

How To Get There And Where To Park
Exit the M6 at junction 34, then take the A683 towards Lancaster and take the A589 towards Morecambe. Go straight across two roundabouts passing a McDonalds outlet on your left. At the next roundabout take the second exit into Lancaster Road. The ground is down this road on your left. The main car park at the ground is for pass holders only. However there is another small car park behind the Umbro Stand which is free. Otherwise street parking.

By Train
Morecambe railway station is about a 20 minute walk away from the ground. As you come out of the station turn right going straight down Central Drive and then alongside Euston Road. This leads into Lancaster Road where the ground is located. Morecambe is served by trains from Lancaster.

Where To Drink?
The Club has its own bar called JB's at the stadium, but this is for home fans only. The most popular choice for away fans is the York Hotel on Lancaster Road, which is about a ten minute walk away from the ground, going towards the town centre. It has SKY television, serves food and has a selection of Everards real ales on offer.

What's The Ground Like?
On one side of the ground is the Main Stand, which is a classic old looking stand. It runs in length for around half the size of the pitch and straddles the half way line. It is a covered stand, with a seating area which is elevated above pitch level, so that spectators need to climb a set of stairs to enter the stand. On each side of the stand there is a windshield, to help protect fans from the sea breeze. The stand is slightly setback from the pitch and hence there is a small terrace area in front of the seated area. The only disappointment is that there are a couple of modern looking floodlight pylons which are situated directly in front of the stand at the side of the pitch. Opposite is a very small uncovered terrace, which is only a few steps high. This area is known affectionately as the 'car wash terrace', as it is the only uncovered area of the ground and has a car wash situated behind it. Again has a set of four floodlights located along the front of it. At one end is the impressive looking North Stand. This good sized terrace is covered and has windshields to either side. Opposite is the smaller Umbro Stand, also a covered terrace with several supporting pillars in front. The ground is also used for Blackburn Rovers reserve games.

What Is It Like For Visiting Supporters?
Fans are primarily housed in the Umbro Stand at one end of the ground. This covered terrace can accommodate around 1,500 fans. A small number if seats are also made available in the Main Stand. Unfortunately there are a number of supporting pillars running across the front of this stand which may impede your view. Catering is provided by the obligatory burger van, although there is a handy chip shop located near the entrance to the away end, which you may care to visit before or after the game. The covered ends contribute to a good atmosphere at the ground and Christie Park is normally a pleasant and relaxed day out.
