JASON SHACKELL SIGNS FOR THE REDS Empty JASON SHACKELL SIGNS FOR THE REDS

http://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10309~2049709,00.html

BARNSLEY boss Mark Robins has today beaten a host of clubs to win the race for Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Jason Shackell.

The 26-year-old has penned a three-year contract with the Reds after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for his services.

Mark told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk: "I am delighted to have signed Jason today. He has proven himself to be a more than capable Championship player and is a leader on the pitch. I am looking forward to a long and successful working relationship with him here at Barnsley FC".

A product of the youth set up at Norwich, Jason came up through the ranks at Carrow Road before making 133 first team appearances for the Canaries - including eleven in the Premier League during 2004/2005.

He made the move to Wolves in September 2008, featuring 14 times in the Molineux side's Championship title winning campaign. Jason ended the 2008/2009 campaign back on loan at Norwich, where he impressed again during 14 appearances.

He spent most of last season on loan at Doncaster Rovers and played a massive part in Rovers' excellent Championship season with 23 appearances for the Keepmoat Stadium side.

Obviously we are looking for even better players, Very Happy seriously they have got themselves an excellent player there, it means we will probably go for Ward who is again an excellent player and will be free, oh well at least we won't be spending the rest of the summer with will he won't he sign.

If JR is serious about next season and he wants to sell significant season tickets then i think he needs to sign someone sharpish, parden the pun, to show that we are really going to go for it. Smile

Furious is not too big a word to explain my annoyance with the club today.
We should have signed him, I am seriously pissed off and to a local rival too!
If I could get my hands on the Board today, they would feel the full vent of my fury. Twisted Evil Evil or Very Mad

We might have tried and he saw the Dingles as a better offer, god knows why but you never know, or we have not tried at all becauce most of the money will go on Billy and a player like ward will be alot cheaper, but its about time the club got there finger out of there arse and give us a sign that they are genuine about next season and looking at promotion, we have heard it before and eventually people will stop buying into it.

You get around 2000 more to a game then us, but you charge less for Match tickets so there won't be much in it when it comes to match income, more likely your chairman bankrolling the deal, which i can't fault him, but our Board is one of the richest but they might as well be one of the poorest as apart from plugging the gap when it comes to losses they don't seem to want to invest in players on a personal level.

Maybe it shows Ryan's lack of ambition if he can't even bring himself to pay players even the sort of wages we can...even though we have a tight structure?

Have you seen our training complex? Indoor full size pitch, full size pitches round the back, 23,000 seater ground with a new stand on the way, big academy. This is not me getting into a my dads better than your dad argument, these are facts.

We get bigger average attendences than you, creating more revenue. Another fact.
