The Yorkshire Football Forums
Hello and welcome to THE PRIDE OF YORKSHIRE.

This forum was set up on the 5th of September 2009 in order to give Yorkshire football fans a place to come and interact with fellow fans of all 10 league clubs in our county.

We operate a controlled environment, with each team having their own forum and moderator, to ensure everyone has equal rights. The main reason this forum was set up, was to allow its members the freedom to express themselves without the restraints some other 'multi-club' forums adopt.

However, abuse of other members will not be tolerated. Please keep discussions civil. If you are not prepared to behave appropiately, please don't register. Friendly banter between rival clubs is encouraged, personal abuse towards other members will result in a permanent ban.

Some sections of this forum are restricted to members, so to enjoy the full benefits of the site please register. Registered users also enjoy this website without the advertisements at the top of the page.

THANK YOU for visiting THE PRIDE OF YORKSHIRE and we hope to see you posting here in the future.

About time give a bad name for footballl http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/Exclusive-Leeds-United-yobs-jailed.6319606.jp

A gang of Leeds United fans attacked rival Bradford City supporters after they ambushed a train.
Carriages were left spattered with blood after the thugs used sticks and planks of wood to carry out the attack as horrified mums with small children looked on.

The train driver was also assaulted and windows smashed in the pre-arranged violence at Bramley railway station.

A judge branded seven young thugs as "pathetic" and "not proper football fans" as he sentenced them for violent disorder.

Judge Kerry Macgill told them: "You are stupid individuals indeed. Here we are in a world cup year and it is people like you that give law abiding football fans reputations like this, not just at home but abroad as well."

Leeds Crown Court heard how the clash between rival Leeds and Bradford hooligans took place after the derby match between the clubs on March 21 last year.

Adam Birkby, prosecuting, described how a group of around 25 Leeds fans ambushed the train as it pulled into the station at around 6.30pm.
They attacked the train with bottles and pieces of wood before some of the Leeds fans boarded and tried to pull Bradford supporters off onto the platform.

Mr Birkby said passengers, including small children, were terrified but were protected by some of the Bradford supporters.

One passenger suffered a gash to the head after being struck by a bottle and the driver was hit with a can as he tried to contact police.
After the incident those involved in the violence bragged about their antics on the internet.

Those sentenced for violent disorder yesterday included Ryan Rodley, 21, of Fenshaw Avenue, Morley, described as the ringleader.

The court heard how he was in regular mobile phone contact with rival hooligans in the run-up to the clash.

Rodley was jailed for five years after he also pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm. The court heard how he injured a barmaid after throwing an ashtray at her face in his local pub last December.

Rodley, described as "a young man who revels in violence", has previous convictions for invading a football pitch in August 2006, affray and has been made the subject of a football banning order.

Joel Best, 19, of Brecks Lane, Kippax, who is currently serving a three year sentence for a separate offence of wounding, was jailed for 18 months.

Joe Deering, 20, of Suffield Road, Gildersome, was jailed for 18 months.
Jordan Bleasby, 19, of Somerville Grove, Killingbeck, and Wayne Johnstone, 18, of Brooklands Lane, Seacroft, were given 12 month suspended sentences, 240 hours unpaid work and each ordered to pay £180 compensation.

Two other members of the gang, aged 16 and 17 at the time of the incident, were handed community punishments and ordered to pay compensation.

Michael Miller, for Rodley, said : "He accepts that on the day of the incident he was contact with the others involved in the offence and members of the Bradford City crew.

He said drink had contributed to his behaviour and he felt ashamed of the fear he had caused innocent people.

Stephen Welford, for Deering, described him as a "follower not a leader". He said he had been in the pub before the incident and was approached by others who asked him to attend.

Catherine Silverton, for Best, said he didn't know the violence would be taking place near innocent members of the public as he thought the clash was happening in a supermarket car park.

Judge Macgill imposed suspended sentences on the other members of the gang after hearing how they had good work records and had acted out of character.
