Argentina v Brazil Empty Argentina v Brazil

Did anyone else catch Argentina v Brazil late on Saturday night? Okay, so Maradona is turning out to be significantly less effective as a manager, but nonetheless quite a performance by the Brazilians. Good defending is not something you necessarily associate with Brazil, but Dunga seems to have them well drilled. Their marshalling of Messi, Aguero and Tevez in the second half as Argentina came into the game more was impressive, and the way they punished the Argentines sloppiness was typical of a good Brazilian side. In particular, their third goal, a perfect through ball by Kaka lobbed over the keeper by Fabiano, was of the highest quality.

European sides' difficulties in previous tournaments outside of Europe is well documented, and subsequently for me, Brazil are now firmly established as favourites to win their sixth World Cup. Thoughts anyone?

Brazil are SUCH a good team when they're on form, but their problem is consistency. They seem to be addressing this problem now, so I think they do have a very good chance of romping the World Cup.

Argentina on the other hand have to go to Paraguay and win in order to QUALIFY. That's very hard for a team that seems unmotivated.

I agree ref. Argentina, they probably have some of the classiest players in the world but don't seem to gel as well as many of their teams in the past; in short they appear lazy.
As for Brazil, I would place them as firm favourites now to win it.........very much depends on which Brazil turns up .
