Yep so it shows they will be hot property then obviously they will come back in with improved offers for both players is anybody else getting worried already. The question i ask do you think both of these players will be with us next season?

im not worried, and i think they will both be with us.

my thoughts toward this are as follows.

1. i'd like to think sharp has learned from his past mistakes regarding big money/big club moves.
2. i'd also like to think how sharp has stated his enjoyment working under SO'D actually means something.
3. copps reasons for signing his contract extension (kids settled in donny etc).
4. with what both players offer the team, especially when they play together, i honestly don't think we could replace them for 3 million, let alone 2.6. for this reason the offer would have to be pretty big for us to even consider it.
5. the club, and full credit to them, have come out straight away and dealt with the situation properly, and the statement on the OS seems very much like a "mitts off" rather than a "offer us more money and we'll think about it", to me at least.

I also think Paul Jewell must been smoking pot to offer £300k for Copps. I would agree with what you have said Superspy but also if we did accept £2.3 million for Sharp would blades get a cut of it because of the young player scheme

well i can understand why they would think that from their perspective, but from ours it tells a different story. my take on my the statement was put up was as a show of faith from the board to the fans that when they say we are not a selling club they mean it, getting fans on board. Smile

Am glad this has happened now rather them rumours been allowed to do the circuit...good to see the club has come out and said they are not for sale...hopefully that will be an end to it and Ipswich can look elsewhere for there summer signings...

the young player schem does not apply as he was sold to scunthorpe and its only to protect clubs if a young lad is out of contract so it does not come in to it

JR has just spoken about the joke offers from the 'pot smoking' Tractor boys, he said '' no chance , the club are building a squad, the offer for both players especially Copps was a bit of a joke, neither the club or the players are in the least bit interested in a move to Ipswich although he thought it complimentary that their club were interested in our players.''
On a more negative note , he was upset about the amount of ST's being bought but realised the economic situation and our form had had a major effect so far.

This was a statement to the effect that we are not a ''selling'' club, that we are in the process of building a stronger and deeper squad for SO'D to ''push on'' next season. To conclude imo this was a definite statement of future intent despite the lack of support (ST sales) but he did say that Ipswich had said that they would be coming in with improved offers........however they would in all likelihood be rebuffed in the same manner as the initial bids i.e. politely but firmly.

Yep , they were not interested in moving ..........he made that very plain.. He said that Billy was a 25 goals a season player and that Copps had 10 goals a season in him as well as being a crucial ''provider'' for him. Smile
