Good, well he was for us. He sees areas that needs strengthening, & goes& gets the players, financial constraints allowing of course.

It must have 'hurt' losing such a potentially great manager and talisman for your club. Interested in your thoughts on how the fans took the news and what they are expecting/hoping for the future of Rovrum ?

Re: Millers Fans
Most Millers fans were shocked & upst when Robins left for the Tykes, but understood his decision as Barnsley ARE a Championship side ( & will remain so under Robbo IMO).hoolahoop wrote:

60% of Millers fans (not me BTW) Clamoured for the return of the conquering hero (Moore) & chairman Tony Stewart bowed to the fans demand & appointed him on a three year contract.
Millers fans are still hoping, praying & checking local press for a site for the new stadium in Rotherham. Personally,(im a pessimist) I can't see it ever happening mainly due to lack of support from local business & general public apathy (including the Council, who seem to be paing the idea lip service, with no financial promises) & we may either drop out of the FL or go cap in hand back to the evil Booth family & move back to Millmoor. WE HAVE TO BE BACK PLAYING IN ROTHERHAM FOR THE START OF THE 2012/13 SEASON!!!
Sorry youve asked that question to such a pessimist, but having gone through so much sh**e in the last few years, it's hardly surprising.
On the playing side, Moore is NOT the answer. Robins assembled a side that play football, not the industrial route one game he prefers. I may sound ungrateful to RM, as between 1999/2005 he presided over the most successful period in the clubs history with two promotions & four seasons in what's now theChampionship & those days were great times to be a Millers fan, but lightening can't strike twice, football has moved on & small clubs like ours will never be able to successfully compete at Championship level again (at least not without a middle eastern billionaire).

I'm almost angry at myself for asking that question in view of your current circumstances. Obviously we went through a very similar scenario to that which you now find yourselves in but somehow came out at the other end (for now).
However there is always the chance that things will turn up and hopefully that doesn't involve the Booths, that should never be considered as an option again!!
Have you got 'active' supporters clubs haranguing the council and winning the hearts of your townsfolk as this could sway things your way ?
Fella, I hope for your survival in a decent ground despite our obvious differences and your realism and openness is very refreshing and with more realists and activists working hard to save the club ; this should happen. My own club is an example of what can be achieved against all odds and......................what you CAN achieve given the desire. Good luck.

Re: Millers Fans
First of all thanks very much for your good wishes & obviously I wish Rovers all the best for the rest of the season & beyond. BTW you are very very lucky to have a benefactor in Mr Ryan, who as well as owning the club, is obviously a man who cares about its club & its supporters deeply.hoolahoop wrote:

Ironically, the 1999/2005 years were the most successful period in RUFC's history, but they also coincided with the Darkest period in Rovers history. I remember vividly a Friday night game in Rovers last league season before relegation just before Christmas we easily beat a poor Rovers side 3-0 at Belle Vue in a crowd of around 3500 almost entirely made up of Millers fans. Rather than being delighted with our away win, I remember feeling really really sad & the subequent turbulent years for DRFC left me feeling worse. I did go to a few Conference games at Doncaster in he first couple of seasons, I also seem to remember contributing financially, which incidentally I would also do if ANY of the local clubs were in trouble, even Wednesday.
In conclusion, thanks very much for your comments, I only joined this forum a few days ago but i'm here to stay & ive enjoyd the chats on here so far.

Re: Millers Fans
Don't be so down fella....you'l be in league 1 this time next year!!!! From what i've heard you have a decent squad that ''any manager couldget promoted as the players are good enough'' and Le Fondre should fire you into League 1 and hopefully beyond.
Been to 2 games against you lot (both friendlys) one at milmoor and one at Don Valley.
Can i ask......why a lot of your fans seem to hate Barnsley and say ''lets all laugh at Barnsley'' at first i thought it was one bitter fan and had to laugh, but there seems to be a number of you lot that really hate us and think you'll be above us in the very near future?

Actually we don't hate Barnsley at all. The fans I know understood that Robbo wanted to manage at a higher level & wished him well. The majority of Millers fans reserve their hatred for Wednesday, mainly because over 4000 residents of the borough of Rotherham choose to follow them, fans that we could use.
