The Yorkshire Football Forums
Hello and welcome to THE PRIDE OF YORKSHIRE.

This forum was set up on the 5th of September 2009 in order to give Yorkshire football fans a place to come and interact with fellow fans of all 10 league clubs in our county.

We operate a controlled environment, with each team having their own forum and moderator, to ensure everyone has equal rights. The main reason this forum was set up, was to allow its members the freedom to express themselves without the restraints some other 'multi-club' forums adopt.

However, abuse of other members will not be tolerated. Please keep discussions civil. If you are not prepared to behave appropiately, please don't register. Friendly banter between rival clubs is encouraged, personal abuse towards other members will result in a permanent ban.

Some sections of this forum are restricted to members, so to enjoy the full benefits of the site please register. Registered users also enjoy this website without the advertisements at the top of the page.

THANK YOU for visiting THE PRIDE OF YORKSHIRE and we hope to see you posting here in the future.

How To Get There By Car & Where To Park

At the end of the M5 follow the A38 and then turn left onto the A380. On reaching Kingskerwell, take the first exit at the large roundabout (where is a McDonalds & Sainsburys on one side) onto the A3022 towards Torquay. After one mile turn left towards Babbacombe (signposted Babbacombe (A379)). After 1 mile turn left into Westhill Road for Warbro Road. Torquay United is signposted on nearing the ground. Street parking

By Train
The ground is over two miles away from the main Torquay railway station and so a taxi (around £5) may well be in order. 'Torre station (one stop before Torquay station but not all trains stop there) is closest to the ground. Walk up the hill opposite the station and its around a 20-25 minute walk.

If you have time on your hands then you can walk to the ground from Torquay station in around 40 minutes: On leaving the station turn left into Rathmore Road. Follow the road down crossing into Falkland Road. Proceed by way of Lucius Street and Tor Hill Road into Union Street. Take the St. Marychurch Road and climb the Hill towards Babbacombe then take the third turning on the right into Bronshill Road. The floodlights of Plainmoor will be visible after a few minutes on the left. Thanks to Myles Munsey for providing the directions.

Where To Drink?
The supporters club 'Boots & Laces' behind the main stand allows away supporters in
Around a five minute walk from the home end on Marychurch Road is O'Connors Irish Bar which is also popular with away fans

What's The Ground Like?
The ground is basic and small, but has steadily improved over the years. Differing from other clubs, the Directors Box is situated behind one goal, in the Yelverton Properties Family Stand, rather than being to the side of the pitch. This is a neat, attractive, covered all seater stand. The other end is a small covered terrace, built in 2000 to replace a former open terrace. It also boosted the atmosphere within the ground. A new Police control box has been constructed to one side of this stand. Both sides are covered stands. At one side is the covered, seated Main Stand, with a small amount of terracing to the front. It runs for just over half the length of the pitch. The other side is a newish, small covered terrace, called the Carlsberg Popular Terrace. It looks slightly odd, having a television gantry perched on its roof. Outside the ground behind the home end and next to the Club shop is a programme shop which is worth a look. The ground is completed by a set of four old style looking floodlight pylons.

What Is It Like For Visiting Supporters?
Around 1,100 away supporters can be accommodated in the Sparkworld Away Stand, at one end of the ground. The club also makes 200 seats available to away supporters in the covered Main Stand. Additionally there is a small terraced area that can be made available adjacent to the Main Stand, but this area is open to the elements. The Sparkworld Away terrace is covered and the acoustics are good, meaning that relatively few away supporters can still really make some noise from this area. Although the facilities are fairly basic,
