Blackwell in star about Sharp
With Jamie Ward ruled out and Keith Treacy likely to miss this weekend's South Yorkshire derby with Doncaster Rovers, there have been the inevitable calls for Billy Sharp to be recalled from his loan spell at The Keepmoat Stadium.
However, the 23-year-old marksman will not be returning to Bramall Lane in a playing capacity until his eight month agreement expires.
"We can't do that," Blackwell added. "And as far as I'm aware he can't play against us either.
"There's a regulation about people facing their clubs."
Thats odd.He said he could play the other week He's changed his mind for some reason

I don't think it's up to Blackwell, I think Football League rules say on-loan players can't play against their parent clubs, I know Varney can't play against Derby on saturday.

It says in the Free Press that SOD is waiting for a call from Blackwell to say he can can't play. I think clubs have a gentlemans agreement in place as there is nothing in the contract that says he can't.

Heard it on Radio Sheffield that Billy won't be playing as Sean had made a Gentlemans agreement, looks like its going to be fairhurst and Hayter then.

Sure it was on the OS when we signed him that Blackwell didn't have a problem with him playing for us, are the Blunts running scared of OUR Billy and fook the gentleman's agreement. We have him because they don't want him , we pay a good deal of his wages and we don't have the financial clout of the Blunts. Why should he not play on that basis ?

Sean probably does not want to cause a riot if our billy scores, there fans love billy even if Blackwell does not.

He should have thought about that before 'binning' him and stating publicly that he didn't have a problem about him playing against them, is he on 'shaky' ground due to recent results perhaps ?

It will be an interesting game for certain, fingers crossed that Copps is ok tomorrow and he can play on Saturday. It will be a different sort of team performance there, plenty of room in midfield, the Blades don't know it exists! Tin hats issued with every ticket!

Am confused about this story. Both clubs agreed he couls play now they say there not risking him :S I understand theres no such football league rule about loan players playing against there former clubs.Wednesday have same problems with Luke Varney. To be honest the FA should look into this and should make some kind of agreement with the players parent club and the Club that he's on loan at

Looks like it is just a verbal agreement between the clubs Matty.
