Re: Boro v Blades
For Boro there was too much emphasis on hoofing to Boyd who was smothered every time in the first half. Players looked like they had never played together or even passed a football before. Couple of debutants in Boro team, Killgallon looked good,Halliday did ok considering he has not had any pre seasons games and Kink was ok ,got a knock just before half time so Old Julio came on and changed it a bit.
Second half was a bit better but tactics not the best.Pulling 11 back for corners is mad, leave one or two up at half way line, oppo has to cover them. Makes defending easier.
Stiil it was a clean sheet and 3 needed points.
Ref was pretty crap, his first visit to Boro and last I hope.

Thanks thornaby, I can tell you weren't impressed with Strachan's tactics. What were the Blunts like were they playing their usual 'hoofball' ?

Re: Boro v Blades
played some decent passing moves, not much point in hoofing with wheats and big mick against them.
Utd had a coupld of big lads at the back as well as Morgan.
Not so much Strachans tactics but what the players were actually doing. He was giving them hell from the touchline for not passing around and marking up when they should.
Omen for the game, utd`s team bus Gordons. with WGS logo on the sides.

Some of the crowds are plummeting, folk are getting pissed off generally with overpaid players, agents, certain winners, huge haves and have nots, ridiculous changes in matck ko times, unemployment, short time etc.................it's very worrying.

The game we all love is going to the dogs, fora such as ours with views from all the supporter's perspectives (especially on such issues) is why this forum exists.
Yes we have banter but there is so much common ground to explore as well.

Re: Boro v Blades
All the pubs and clubs near the ground had offers on for cheap drinks and some even had free food at half time as an incentive to watch there.
Greedy sods, they get the drinks takings on matchdays anyway then try and grab as much on tv matches.
Football is knackered by sky.

Re: Boro v Blades
I'm afraid that is the main reason amongst many other problems relating to society, community spirit and most importantly insatiable greed.
I long for the game of my youth...............full vocal all standing stadia ;watching honest footy in a mainly honest game. Yes there was crowd trouble inside and outside the stadia but most of the time it was never really serious. This very tribalism created the atmospher the frisonne that encouraged all to go.
we rarely knew for sure who would win their respective leagues , let alone who we could almost predict would fill places 1-6. siiiiiiigh ho-hum.

Re: Boro v Blades
bloody hell hoola, you never went to some of the games I went too then.
Hundreds stalking the streets looking for oppo fans and that was away from home. Parts of Boro were no go areas for away fans, looked like Belfast when the bottles and bricks started flying.
Remember getting caught between 2 big mobs at Sunderland once, walking towards Joker Park on the estate just over the bridge and a gang came round atreet corner in front of us, a couple of hundred strong, then another lot charged from behind us, no police in sight and around 4 or 500 people yelling and running at each other, then they stopped when they realised they were all Boro from different parts of Teesside. We just tagged on behind them and we all ended up in the Fulwell end, Sunderland fans didnt know what hit them that day, Police lines inside the ground seperating both sets of fans, Boro were in all the standing areas, nutters day out that was.
