I went to the (hastily arranged) signing on Thursday when I went to do my shopping. I think Billy was the only one NOT to be slightly embarrassed. He was doiing his best 'I should be on a stall on Donny Market' impression, trying to get random people who were walking by to buy 1.
Fair play to the lads who gave up their own time but I think it could have been better promoted and better advertised on the day. A lot of people had no idea who they were and when I pointed out to Billy they needed a sign he pointed to an A4 sheet of paper taped to the top of the table they were signing on and said 'we've got one' Although he did manage to organise someone to put a call out on the Frenchgate tannoy
Apparently they sold 750 in the first hour though so not bad going

Not really, they'd not picked a great night to do it as Donny was very quiet on Thursday (great for me as I got lots of shopping done ) One of the players said it was the same when they'd done some Junior Rovers stuff there - the club need to make the most of these opportunities though

Billy was funny, he was shouting over to this group of teenage lads saying 'you know you want to buy one' and when they said no he shrugged and said 'your loss!'
I do think some of them were embarrassed though because normally when they sign they're very chatty and most of them were just pushing it to the next person this time. Martin Woods was really nice though, he was last person in line and he was thanking everyone for their support

Well I definitely wasn't disappointed - only problem is I can't buy you one for work - might have to get you a Chesterfield one

Why would you instantly think Woods? Apart from O'Connor and Coppinger all of the players signing that day had dark hair Woods was actually very charming and probably the most talkative of them all apart from Billy. Having said that the only Rovers player I ever felt was distinctly off hand was John Spicer and he did nothing to change that opinion the couple of times I saw him afterwards at Notts County.
