Winter Break
Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on a winter break in English football.
Now i've never really wanted us to have a winter break but saying that, this season an last we have seen a hell of a lot of postponements in all divisions. If we're going to be getting weather like this every year from now i think it would be beneficial to have a winter break.
Now a lot of teams have to try an fit extra matches in when they can. It would save fans money to, i know a lot of people that have travelled to away matches only for them to be called off. Match tickets might be valid for the re-match but the travel fare in a lot of cases can't be refunded or claimed back which means you have to pay twice.

Re: Winter Break
Your right about that but for example Shitfield Washday have loads of matches now to reschedule, say the break was december to just after the new year thats about 6 matches already organised for for some other time. Then if you have a couple of postponements in jan feb their easier to sort. Washday will have a busy second half or the season.
Obviously its not an exact science cos the weather can do owt but we need to do summut cos some teams will be overwhelmed with matches an might even have to extend their seasons or play 3 matches a week. If we have another bad spell an swillsboro breaks down again how many matches will they have to fit in then???

I'm in favour of a winter break but for how long? I would also like to see the leagues reduced to 18 clubs (excluding the prem) this would mean a League 3 being formed. Majority of games would be played at the weekend with mid week dates for re-arranged games.

Re: Winter Break
Thats precisely my point LL!!! Most clubs have already had at least 2 postponements so a break would really not make a difference cos most teams have had 1 like you said.

Exactly if we lose another game tothe weather , we will be playing until July at this rate !
Especially with our forthcoming cup run.
