Hello and welcome to THE PRIDE OF YORKSHIRE.

This forum was set up on the 5th of September 2009 in order to give Yorkshire football fans a place to come and interact with fellow fans of all 10 league clubs in our county.

JAMES Hayter could have to shoulder the responsibility of leading Doncaster Rovers’ attack in Saturday’s game at Nottingham Forest.

With leading scorer Billy Sharp unlikely to play again until surgery on a long-standing hernia problem, Hayter is set to adopt Sharp’s role unless manager Sean O’Driscoll decides to try and bring another striker in on loan before the weekend.

Hayter celebrated his first start after a month on the sidelines with a calf injury when scoring Rovers’ late equaliser in their 1-1 draw with visiting Coventry on Tuesday.

“It was nice to be back playing, “ said Hayter. “I only started training on Friday but because we were low on numbers, and were struggling with injuries, I was straight back in.

“It was nice to get a little run out against Leeds and also get a start on Tuesday. I felt okay and it was good to get on the score sheet.

“It wasn’t the prettiest game. The pitch was quite difficult and you had two teams who are near to the bottom and who were probably struggling for a bit of confidence.

“But we still got something out of the game and hopefully we build on it and look to go to Nottingham Forest with a bit of confidence.

“They have had a little bit of a blip in their last couple of games so hopefully we can capitalise on that and try and get something from the game. Obviously it will be a tough game. They are near the top of the league but, as I say, we’ll be going there thinking that we can get something out of the game.

“Every point is vital so we will be looking to try and pick up points and then try to turn the draws into wins.”

Had Leicester City loanee Franck Moussa still been at the Walkers Stadium then Saturday’s game would have been a local derby.

“As it is it’s just another game really against a tough team,” he said. “We are going to have to be prepared to work hard.”

Moussa struggled to force his way into the Foxes’ starting line-up but has played in every game since linking up with Rovers.

“I came here to play games and to show that I can play at this level and I hope that I can do a good job for the team,” he said. “I am enjoying it at Doncaster and playing with a group of players who have good football brain. The manager has also given me the chance to express myself.”

Rovers were hoping that John Oster and Joe Mills, who both missed Tuesday’s game, would be fit enough to resume full training today.

Defender Sam Hird won the Supporters’ Club Player of the Month for February.

When is Young Fairhirst due back?

I am sure that he was only out on a one month emergency loan and it was in early to mid Feburary when he went south.

Surely it is time to recall him for cover now that Billy is crocked.
