SWOOSH! NIKE BECOME BARNSLEY FC'S NEW KIT SUPPLIER

Barnsley Football Club is delighted to announce that the World's biggest brand in sportswear, Nike, will become our new kit supplier for the new season.

The iconic brand will grace our replica kit and training gear and the new deal comes at an exciting time. Along with the new Principal Club sponsor, CK Beckett, we will also be having a complete refit of the Superstore to make way for an entirely new range of Nike clothing and leisurewear.

Don Rowing, Managing Director commented on the new deal, "This comes at a great time for Barnsley Football Club. Nike is a world renowned brand and one that customers trust to deliver quality and style. With a new Club sponsor on board and the refit of our Superstore we will be able to better provide for our supporters a product that they will want to wear."

Michael Heslop Sales Director of Just Sport Pro Club, Nike's Official Football Partnersaid "We are delighted to be bringing the world famous Nike swoosh to Barnsley Football Club. We are very much looking forward to working with the Club in developing its Retail business using the Nike Brand and hope it is the start of a long and successful partnership. We are sure the supporters of the Club will be pleased with the product range that will be on offer."

Seems a few clubs are going this way, basically handing over the shop to Nike, it happened with us last year and it is better although there are some things they have stopped selling like match Dvds..ours is certainly buisier though then it used to be...

Not bought barnsley shirts for years but i'll but having some of the training gear now its made well

Thats the thing, at least the quality is excellent compared to what we had before with Vandanel, in our shop they also do a cheaper non Nike range that is pretty good as well..

Yorkie, Do Doncaster Rovers still own the right to sell the shirts exclusively in the Rovers shop and at the official DRFC website, or in handing over the club shop to Nike did they wave them rights.

I'm not too sure how this is going to work to be honest,
because in letting Nike take over the club shop it looks as though Nike have full control of the sale of merchandise, but reading your earlier post it looks as though DRFC sell things independent of Nike, such as cups, badges, hats, scarfs, caps, t-shirts, jumpers, and such like, so as i say i'm a little confused as to how this will work.

Yep Nike take over the runing of the shop and get every penny of merchandise sold as they pay the club a large sum oh and as well hope you don't need more then an XXL as you will be out of luck Nike do not make them any bigger

Yep Petes got it spot on, we were talking to the staff in the shop a few months agao and they told me that although the club don't make any money on items sold ,Nike pay the club an amount of money each year and that amount of money at least where Rovers were concerned was more then the shop had made in profit in previous years so the club were more then happy ,the Staff by the way also become employees of Nike so they are taken of the wage bill as well, i think our deal with Nike was a three year one...

I hear both Deedars are to be sponsored by Poundstretchers next season in recognition of their financial clout ; they will of course be wearing kit made by Matalan.
