Nah it's the hardware, it keeps flashing on .......windows has shut down to protect itself etc when booting up and asking me to remove /disable virus protection etc. I can't even work it in 'safe' mode, 'restore factory settings' etc..........arr lass is taking it to an expert. I await the report with interest.
Strange thing is I prefer Windows HP to 7 or Vista.

We are now two and half weeks on and what's the state of your laptop? Did you manage to raise the funds for the hard drive or still saving up?

Sometimes just by increasing the RAM will speed up your laptop. Also lots of progs tend to run in background and take up processor usage, these progs can be stopped and then started when required. Speak to someone in the computing world who can point you in the right direction. Will be cheaper than a new laptop, unless you have set your mind on a new one.
