Child migrants..

You know, sometimes an article in the news just takes your breath away.. this has to be one of the most horrendous things I have read in a long time. saw it on the BBC news thismorning and had to look it up..
Britian has in its past like every country some shameful deeds, but this has to be up there as one of the worst... To be described as a war crime with out a war says it all..
How in gods name can a government steal little children and sell them into slavery in such a way...? there is one particular phrase that has truly made my blood run cold in this piece...
Child care agencies worked with the government to send disadvantaged children to a rosy future and supply what was deemed "good white stock" to a former colony.
good white stock.... Perhaps a pure Arian race?
Isn't that just what Hitler wanted just a scant few years earlier? isn't that the reason so many in Europe ended their lives in the gas chambers?
And how the hell can an apology from a man who had nothing to do with it, who wasn't even born when this atrocity began go anyway to repairing the terrible wrong to these children?

The things that are done by politicians here and elsewhere in the world without the knowledge or support of the electorate are beyond belief at times. This country is just like any other and we will only be told about things when there is no alternative left.
Will the next step be to 'compensate' the survivors? I would not say they shouldn't be compensated for this but it will be every taxpayer among us that pays for it.

How do you even begin to compensate for a life stolen? For memories of a family and love ripped from a childs mind? for the unspeakable abuse that many suffered, both physical and sexual.
Compensation like apologies is no restitution for robbing anyone of their identity.

I just finished watching Australian PM Kevin Rudd's apology to the nation. Wow, what a speech. Heartfelt, appropriate, and eloquent.
