Sell By Dates On Food
If there's no eat by date on the food how long do you keep it before throwing it ?
I hate to waste food but panic that its going to give me the ten bob bits if i eat something once it past its sell by date i know its alright but i never know for how long so bin it.

programme on tv the other week ong round shops bins and getting the food out to cook then feeding people in a hotel and a market place.
Supposed to be ok for a while but I am fussy, if its over then its out.

If there is no date on it whatsoever it shouldn't have been sold. It should have been removed from the shelf as you have no way of knowing how old it is..
There is a difference between eat by and sell by on food..
sell by is the date the shopkeeper is allowed the goods on the shelf, usually food will last a couple of days after, display till is another way of controlling this.
Use by is the date the consumer must eat the product by ..Usually tho I have to say if it smells ok in my fridge I will live a little dangerously and still eat it a couple of days after the date.
It's If I remember correctly, a five grand fine if prosecuted for having out of date stock on the shelf, and that is per item!

Food rarely lasts long enough to go out of date in our house, but if it has it goes in the bin,
