The Yorkshire Football Forums
Hello and welcome to THE PRIDE OF YORKSHIRE.

This forum was set up on the 5th of September 2009 in order to give Yorkshire football fans a place to come and interact with fellow fans of all 10 league clubs in our county.

We operate a controlled environment, with each team having their own forum and moderator, to ensure everyone has equal rights. The main reason this forum was set up, was to allow its members the freedom to express themselves without the restraints some other 'multi-club' forums adopt.

However, abuse of other members will not be tolerated. Please keep discussions civil. If you are not prepared to behave appropiately, please don't register. Friendly banter between rival clubs is encouraged, personal abuse towards other members will result in a permanent ban.

Some sections of this forum are restricted to members, so to enjoy the full benefits of the site please register. Registered users also enjoy this website without the advertisements at the top of the page.

THANK YOU for visiting THE PRIDE OF YORKSHIRE and we hope to see you posting here in the future.

Latics have received a number of unusual applications for the managerial vacancy at Boundary Park.

After careful consideration of all correspendence, they have not been included on the shortlist to replace Dave Penney.

The applicants invariably believe they are suitably qualified because of their exploits in junior and amateur football, their footballing skills on computer and video games and also their ability to play the football game Subbuteo.

They include one from somebody with a doctorate at Cambridge University who, together with having an UEFA Pro Licence, believes he can introduce a scientific approach to training, team selection and tactics.

Another candidate lists his exploits on Championship Manager, Pro Evolution Soccer, FIFA 98 and Daily Telegraph Fantasy League where he has a higher points total to celebrity managers Alan Hansen and Sven-Goran Eriksson.

"Most clubs appoint managers who have failed and been sacked. But not me, to date I have not failed as a manager," he wrote adding he had been a manager in private industry and local government.

He added that as a qualified surveyor he could also help out with maintenenance of the ground.

There was a further application from somebody who explained he has had great success within simulation football while also spending vast periods of time sitting in bus shelters which are akin to dug outs.

Another applicant's cv comprises his exploits on Championship Manager and Football Manager at AFC Telford United, Ilkeston Town, Portadown, AFC Wimbledon and Oxford United over a 10-year period.

It also includes managing Blackburn Rovers, Hull City and Inter Milan with whom he won the Champions League on two occasions.

There was one further applicant who believes his long and successful military career has provided him with the skills and experience to help manage Latics
