Stock talks on hold
The future of midfielder Brian Stock at Doncaster Rovers seems to be in the balance after he has failed to agree terms with the club for a new contract. Stock's current contract is due to run out at the end of the season.
Whether the contract stalemate has been a contributing factor in Stock having to settle for a place on the bench in recent games is anyone's guess, but Rovers are now willing to risk waiting until January before opening negotiations again.
Rovers risk letting their influential midfielder leave the club for nothing if they fail to tie him down to a new deal. Sean O'Driscoll told the Yorkshire Post: "Contract talks with Brian are on hold. We will revisit it in January – which is obviously a risk for us and a risk for the boy. Football changes and evolves. We almost had to rely on him but that's not the case now. I can't just put him back in because he has played well in the past – Martin Woods and Simon Gillett have come in and done really well. If you are trying to motivate a whole squad, you have to treat everybody the same. We have tried to raise the level of performance and there are one or two others who started the season who are not in the team just now."
" Everyone has to feel comfortable. There is no point the club feeling uncomfortable and it is vitally important that the player doesn't feel he is being pressurised into signing something. We have come to a point, quite amicably, to say 'rather than drag this on, let's see where we are in January'. Both parties have to agree."
There are several other players whose contracts also expire at the end of the season., including Neil Sullivan, Sam Hird, James Chambers, Mustapha Dumbuya, Byron Webster and Steve Brooker. It is understood that Rovers have yet to open talks with any of them as far as extending their stay at the club.
O'Driscoll said: "At some point, we will have to sit down and discuss their situations. We are not going to leave it to the end of the season and suddenly say 'by the way, you're not going to get a contract.' There are no ulterior motives. Circumstances change. It is just not the time right now to sit down and do it for the players or the club."
Are we seeing the last of Brian Stock....

Sounds very much like it, he doesn't want any prospective club to be encumbered by an existing contract by the looks of it.

To be honest , i think it is more of the clubs doing, probably down to his back problems...

Re: Stock talks on hold
Rovers midfielder Brian Stock has withdrawn from the Wales squad for their upcoming Euro 2012 qualifying matches against Bulgaria and Switzerland. Stock, who has been limited to appearances from the substitutes' bench for the last few games, has pulled out due to a continuing back problem which necessitated surgery last season.

If that's the case then I'm sorry for Stocky, I hope this isn't gradually going to be the last we see of him in the Hoops.

Re: Stock talks on hold
Stocky was on the radio this morning basically saying that talks had broken down and that although he would love to commit his future to the rovers it was looking like he would have to look to a new club to play his football but said he would have to see what hppens in january , it sounded like he had been offered a deal but it was not what he wanted..
