Skysports.com understands Hull City midfielder Nathan Doyle is poised to join Barnsley on a permanent basis.

Barnsley have had an undisclosed offer for the 22-year-old accepted by Hull and Doyle has passed a medical at Oakwell.

He has also agreed a two-and-a-half year contract with the Tykes, where he spent three months on loan earlier in the season.

Doyle made 11 appearances during his initial stint with Mark Robins' side and is now on the brink of rejoining the Championship club.

Since signing for Hull three years ago from Derby, Doyle has made just 14 first-team appearances and will be looking forward to playing regular football back at Barnsley.

Brilliant news we have missed him in the last 2 games

DOYLE BACK AT OAKWELL FOR FREE
BARNSLEY Football Club have today concluded a deal to sign Nathan Doyle from Hull City on a free transfer.

Reds manager Mark Robins has been working towards a deal to bring Nathan back to Oakwell and the 23-year-old has today put pen-to-paper on a two-and-a-half year contract. Nathan arrives on a free transfer from the Premier League side.

Mark told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk: "Nathan did very, very well for us during his loan spell and we are delighted to have completed a permanent deal to bring him back to the Club. This is a deal we have been working on for a while and I am delighted it has now come to fruition. I am looking forward to working with Nathan and having him back as part of our squad".

The relevant paperwork has now been completed and the deal is subject to registration with the football authorities.

Glad we've got him back, thought he had an impact while with us, I'm quite sure we didn't lose very much while he was with us?

Top signing for you lot. Wasnt really given a chance at City but will always remember him for his 2nd half performance against Crystal Palace to secure third place in the playoffs and for his goal against Watford in the playoff semi final 2nd leg. He will deffo do a good job in the championship.
