Reading @ Home
Well now that all the excitement of the Transfer window has ended and we know who we will have to play for us i suppose we ought to turn our attention to Saturday when we entertain Reading, not only are we been shown live on Sky Sports but we welcome back Matty Mills who hopefully will make an appearence, we should also get to see our new Signing Shelton Martis make an appearence and also with a bit of Luck Billy will get his scoring boots on, we normally do well in front of the cameras so i will go for a 2-0 win to the Rovers...can't wait..

I can't wait to hammer Mills. Some players deserve respect on their return whereas others deserve hammering. Players like Greeny & Wellens fall into the respected group whereas Mills falls into the later.

The trouble is Jack its called life and like i keep saying these players are not supporters of the club, they have a short time to make there money and like most people in any walk of life they would walk if someone offered them more money to do the same job, i know i would.

The difference is Wellens was gutted when he left because he loved it here, loved the football we played, the management and players and the fans and was almost in tears when being interviewed about it, and i understand his reasons for going because at the age he is he was offered crazy money compared to what we could offer and he has a family to think of.
Mills on the other hand is a mercenary who did everything he could to get away from our club. We made Matt Mills and he didn't give a fcuk about DRFC. When Brum came knocking he made it quite clear he wanted away for the money and the reason he never went was because the offer they made was crap. It even effected his performances on the pitch because he had quite a few shit game due to him sulking and wanting away. Then as soon as Reading match what we want he is away for the Money, no way was it for footballing reasons.

I have to say I agree with you Yorkie yet there are some players who really do have a passion for the club they are at/ from. There is one Tow player that springs to mind and that is Andy Booth. Yeah he went of for a while when he had the chance but he came back to us and is now an ambassador for the club. There are footballers who are just out there for the money (mainly those in the top clubs) but there are some who will happily stay at one club until they aren't needed or wanted anymore like imo Jonathan Worthington who went to Oldham because the manager we had at that time didn't play him.

Re: Reading @ Home
Rovers are lucky in the way they enamour themselves to players. Shelton's reaction was interesting, he even came to a couple of games to see players he had made friends with when he was back at WBA because he liked his time here. He was only on loan for a month and a half! Billy 's none movement this window is partly down to his wanting to play a game of Russian Roulette with Blackwell, but also because he is enjoying his football here as he has stated. There are few situations like Matty Mills young men wanting to make it further up the league by the greasy pole line, most seem to be interested in becoming better players and then the attention comes, nb Martin Woods. An interesting analysis about players leaving though Skellow, I assume you hate Greeny with a passion then, after all he left purely for money. In the end players move on all the time, Matt Mills went to a club he thought might put him into the Prem in a year. He made a bad choice, unfortunate for him!

Sometimes I think players need to take time to think their options over rather then taking the first thing that they think might get them to the top quicker. I feel if some of them thought about it more their decisions might not come back to bite them.

Re: Reading @ Home
Rovers can be very grateful for both Mills and Wellens, for the first time we gained a LOT of money when we lost players, both went for well over a million pounds. If anything Paul Green let us down more when he left us for nothing when we had just been promoted to go to another CCC club. Players can go when they want now, not something I totally agree with, and their agents are very often more of a problem than the player. They become very short sighted when they see pound signs, money after you have reached a certain level of income doesn't matter that much. If I had been offered £2-3K a week when in my twenties but told i could only work for 10 years I would have cheered. I would still be enjoying the money!

I suppose if your short of cash and its on the TV you can understand it, but it is very poor , obviously the Reading fans would prefer to spend it in the Pub..
