Aldershot 1 - 0 Bradford
This was the first game I saw under the new Taylor era.
The only difference I really saw was that we looked very comfortable defending (bar Matt Clarke who was his usual shit self).
Everytime we lost the ball, the players got into a defensive formation very quickly which was refreshing to see.
Something I noticed last night which concerened me was that we still have no central midfield. I take it Bullock is supposed to be protecting the 2 central defenders? He sat so deep that the 2 Aldershot midfielders had an open run at him every time. A better team would have beat us 3 or 4 nil yesterday.
We had no idea what to do with the ball up front. 3 forwards on the pitch (Hanson, McCammon & Evo) which created so little it was laugable. Our only clear chances came from corners of which 2 should've been finished off, 1 in the first half which I couldn't see properly and then Bullock missing a sitter right infront of goal!!
The goal they scored was a joke. We couldn't clear in the first half and I thought maybe Taylor will give em a kick up the arse to make them actually concentrate on set-pieces. We didn't. Faffing about with the ball (Matt Clarke really infuriates me) and it cost us. Edge of the area I think the Charles bloke scored a well placed shot past Matt Glennon. Shit.
Not really much else to say other than I was pretty deflated yesterday after getting my hopes up at how good we had been against Rochdale and Darlington.
Ratings:
Matt Glennon - 7 - Conceded but that wasn't really his fault. Pulled off 2 cracking saves.
Simon Ramsden - 6 - Didn't do much wrong. Didn't really notice him
Luke O'Brien - 7 - PLayed well on the left hand side of the midfield where we seemed to be focusing
Michael Flynn - 5 - Heard rave reviews about him in the Rochdale win. He was shit
Matthew Clarke - 4 - How can this man get paid to be such a clown on the pitch?
Lee Bullock - 6 - Didn't really have control of the midfield. Did put a shift in though.
Gareth Evans - 7 - Constantly running yet again, didn't get much of the ball but when he did, looked good.
Steve Williams - 6 - Don't know whether he was to blame for their goal but otherwise good passing from the back.
James Hanson - 6 - Got on some headers but wasn't really effective.
Robbie Threlfall - 6 - Another I heard rave reviews about. Tried and tried but never really influenced the game.
Mark McCammon - 5 - Don't rate him. Didn't create anything.
Omar Daley - 6 - One of the few players who bothered taking a shot or 2. Got booked and that really effected his game.
Steven O'Leary - 5 - Didn't make an impact on the game at all
Gavin Grant - 6 - I can see this guy being alright but didn't have enough time to get into the game.
On a side note, Aldershot's chants have to be amongst the corniest I've ever heard. There's no banter between away fans and home fans, all the home fans do is sing from their archive of songs stolen from Spurs lmao!

Re: Aldershot 1 - 0 Bradford
The wins couldn't last much longer now could they?
Ah well as they say: "You can't win em all" I just hope it isn't just some honeymoon period that's destined to end...
Thought Evans did well when he actually HAD the ball, which he didn't very often... Have to agree about Matthew Clarke... Could so easily have made us conceed a penalty too.
When we go a goal down it always seems to be downhill from there, there's never any real comeback..
Ah well, we've got a big game against the Millers next! This has been one of my 'games to look forward to'.
.... Before I go I have to say I did have a little snigger at Aldershots chants.
