Gavin Baldwin appointed new Rovers chief executive
DONCASTER Rovers today confirmed the appointment of Gavin Baldwin as their new chief executive.
Baldwin took over as interim chief executive following the departure of Dave Morris in March.
The 43-year-old has now been handed the reins on a permanent basis as Rovers look to bounce back from relegation to League One.
Baldwin has been working at Rovers for the last six months developing the club’s business model.
He is thought to be keen on developing a Sporting Club which would see several of the town’s sports clubs come together under the Doncaster Rovers banner.
Baldwin said: “This is a very exciting time for Doncaster Rovers and I am looking forward to working with the team to build a strong future for the club.
“Relegation is disappointing for any club but we will bounce back.
“I have always had a passion for sports and this is a fantastic opportunity for me to share my expertise and experience with a professional football club which takes me back to my roots.
“Over the coming weeks we will be developing strategies which will see us working closely with fans to help to deliver a club that remains at the heart of the local community.”
Chairman John Ryan said: “We are delighted that Gavin has accepted this opportunity to lead the club into a new era.
“He brings with him a great deal of industry knowledge but more importantly he has a history of successes and is passionate about seeing Doncaster Rovers back where they should be in the Championship.
“He will be a great asset to the club.”
Baldwin is an ex-assistant director at Doncaster Council and he was formerly chief executive of the Keepmoat Stadium and The Dome.

Fantastic news given what I've heard about the way the man operates. Looking forward to seeing if the 'sporting club' model can take off.

I think this man is going to be important for the club, very important indeed and he has excellent credentials. From reading stuff SM has posted he's already shown more interaction with the fans than his predesessor ever did!

I sent him a congratulatory message today from the VSC and all Doncaster Rovers supporters. His response was that together we can work wonders, how much more positive do you want to be??

It appears to me that there is now plenty to be positive about but you will never change those that want to believe all is doom and gloom.
Many long standing supporters have seen REAL doom and gloom stretching back through all but 10 of the last 50 years.......this is a minor blip given that context.
