Your Season So Far ? Empty Re: Your Season So Far ?

Post by Dan_the_Owl Thu 31 Dec - 21:33:21

Highlight of the season: Genuinely struggling here. If Esajas does leave at the end of the season (looking increasingly likely), his goals against Rochdale and the Blunts will definitely be his legacy, pure class. Thrashing Scunny was one of the few enjoyable days out so far this campaign. On a personal note, meeting some of the Donny people from on here was a laugh, they're a good bunch.

Lowest Moment: Take your pick. The departure of Brian Laws (no matter how necessary, it still hurt), the awful run of results that led to him leaving was as poor as I can remember us ever playing. Jeffers' sending off at Port Vale, and the humiliating defeat that followed. And for me personally, I will struggle to top around 13 hours on trains in the space of a single day to watch us dismantled 4-1 at Watford. And the game was on Sky.

Best Player: Lee Grant, ever dependable between the sticks. Some defeats could've been so much heavier.

Worst Signing: Until recently, Darren Purse has looked very poor, and Tommy Miller has only played a handful of games. Warren Feeney has barely kicked a ball since arriving.

Best Goal: Probably Esajas' volley against Rochdale, genuine class.

Favourite Home Game: Owls 4-0 Scunny

Worst Home game: Owls 0-2 Reading

Favourite Away Game: Newcastle 1-0 Owls Despite the defeat, we outplayed them for long spells, and we made plenty of noise up in the top deck. Great atmosphere.

Worst Away Game: Watford 4-1 Owls (See above)

Overall Rating: Strictly regarding the football, 1/10.

Expectations for 2010: To still be in the Championship come the end of the season. Appointing the right man as the new boss. Hopefully investment arrives sooner rather than later too.

Who have been the best team you've played this season: As awful as we were against West Brom, they completely dismantled us. Definitely going up. Newcastle's brand of football isn't much fun to watch, but with a squad that talented, its no wonder they're bouncing back quickly.

Who has been the worst team you've played this season: In terms of ability, probably Plymouth. They'll be down there for the rest of the season I reckon. Forest really annoyed me, despite clearly being a decent side, their timewasting tactics and negative football (the hallmark of any Billy Davies side) was really irritating.

Surprise package: Leicester. To immediately hit their stride after promotion is very impressive, and it seems to me that Nigel Pearson is going places as a manager. Also Blackpool. Excellent run of form despite limited resources.

Which manager do you think has done the best this first half of the season: Pearson or Holloway, see above.

Which 5 games in the 2nd half of the season could be vital for your club: All four in January, three against relegation rivals, the other a spicy local affair against Barnsley.

Predicted top 7

Newcastle
West Brom
-----------
Leicester
Nottm Forest
Sheffield Utd
Cardiff
-----------
Swansea
