NEW Burnley boss Brian Laws is set to make a bid for his former Scnuthorpe striker Billy Sharp.

Laws made several attempts to sign Sharp for Sheffield Wednesday but couldn't afford him.

Now, as Burnley's new boss, he can compete for the 23-year-old hotshot, who is currently on loan at Doncaster Rovers from Sheffield United.

Sharp has been prolific since being loaned by Sheffield United to Doncaster, where he has scored 10 goals in 17 league starts.

The Blades can recall the 23-year-old if they have an acceptable bid for the forward who cost them £2m.

Sharp has rejected approaches from the Championship, but would be tempted by a Premier League breakthrough under the manager who fashioned his career.

He scored 56 goals in two seasons for Scnuthorpe before returning to United after Laws signed him from Bramall Lane.

Laws, who has made a separate offer for United defender Matt Kilgallon, is also keeping tabs on another of his ex-Scnuthorpe forwards, Andy Keogh, who could leave Wolves in the window.

Keogh has made 11 appearances for Wolves this term, scoring once - the winner at Wigan.

Well time will tell, i really can't see Billy signing for a side that will end up back tn the championship next season, i still maintain that he sees his future back with the Blades but that will mean blackwell getting the sack, lets hope he is true to his word and will stick it out with the Rovers..
