Sodje on Loan to Charlton

Akpo Sodje has signed on an emergency 28 day loan at Charlton.

A very good move for him. Will hopefully play some games and gain the match fitness he is clearly lacking.

he was going to be the best striker in the clubs history at one point and now he's back in the 3rd division

He had a spell during the season before last where he scored something like 6 goals in 8 games. Then he got injured.

Came back in the first match of last season against Burnley and scored two good goals. Then he got injured.

He just needs a run of games, and he won't get that here, so a loan move is a perfect option. Hopefully he won't get injured, again.

I wish the guy all the best and want him to do well however as I am biased I hope it's not too well. We want to be in a good position this year and if he starts scoring massive amounts of goals that might prevent us getting up the table as well. But like I said hope things go well for him.

Definitely the right move at the right time. He's looked very much off the pace since coming back from injury. Playing in a few games will see his fitness improve, and getting into the scoring habit again certainly wouldn't do his confidence any damage either.

Looks like my earlier enthusiasm at the move is not relevant, Charlton have made it clear that they are looking to make the move permanent. I'd still like to give him another shot if he can stay healthy and start scoring goals again.

Same here, although i'm equally happy either way, as if he does come back fit there'll always be the worry that he'll get injured again.

Yeah, I think so too. What is encouraging, as discussed elsewhere, is that Laws seems set on getting a new striker in. Whoever we end up getting can't possibly be less effective than Akpo has been so far this season.
