Thats the third time this season, the Players can probably manage to survive a week or two but i feel for the poor sods who make up the backroom staff who will more then likely be struggling, they want to get there house in order.

It's always the unknown people who suffer most and no-one ever seems to think about them in these situations. I hope it gets sorted soon for the sake of those people who do need every penny atm.

I have a dreadful feeling it may be too late for Pompey. Worse I think they may just be the first to finally go out of business.
Greed, foreign 'owners' of dubious status, inflated wages and it isn't difficult to see this happening to others.
Thank goodness for sound financial strategies and realistic management at Rovers.

What will happen if pompey do have to close would they promote 4 teams instead of 3 and so through est of leagues or will it just be a case of point's deduction

Don't think they will go bust Pete, probably go into Admin get all the debts paid of and be run by an administrator until someone comes in and takes it over, they will get a points deduction though, do you fancy it next season, might make a good weekend away.

Spot on. It's becoming obvious that the Premier League is not the promised land it has been bigged up as for many years now. It brings financial rewards, yes, but it's a massively slanted playing field in favour of the biggest clubs. The list of dropouts who've been saddled with massive wage bills and overheads in order to compete is extensive, and the fallout is something I'm all too familiar with having watched Sheffield Wednesday over the last decade. Pompey looked doomed, and with a clearout guaranteed at the end of the season, they could be in for an extended exile in the Football League. (cracking away day though, I agree)

Just reading pompey forum and they think it is a big possibility of pompey being another AFC Wimbledon scenario as according to paper reports and what there fans say the club is £80 million in debt and going to be investigated for fraud. I just can not see the FL bailing out a club with this much debt i hope i'm wrong nobody wants to see a team go bust but this could happen to pompey

Not nice to see any club in the shite they're in. Still, everyone on here seems to think it's a top away day, and I've not been before, so I might have to make that one in next season if they do get relegated

Re: Pompey wages delayed again
I do feel sorry for all the staff there, this can't be a good way to start a new year. Like many of you have said though, the top league is shown to be amazing, etc yet no-one ever goes on about the amount of money it costs in total only how much certain players are worth!!! I hope that is gets sorted soon for all involved.
