SEAN O'DRISCOLL is the favourite to become Burnley's new boss.
But Doncaster, O'Driscoll's club, have told the Clarets they want around £1million in compensation.
O'Driscoll was interviewed by Turf Moor chairman Barry Kilby and director Brendan Flood at the Worsley Marriott Hotel on Sunday.
They also gave Brian Laws, who was sacked last month by Sheffield Wednesday, a second interview at the same venue.
Laws, 48, was confident of landing the job on Sunday night and sealing a return to the club where he started out as a player almost 30 years ago.
Huddersfield's Lee Clark and Simon Grayson were also on the short-list to replace Owen Coyle. But the feeling is Clark needs more experience while Grayson wants to stay with Leeds.
O'Driscoll, 52, has developed a reputation for attractive football and the Burnley board want another purist after losing Coyle.
But Donny chairman John Ryan last night warned: "We don't want to lose Sean but should it happen we shall be seeking serious compensation.
"We've not been called 'the Arsenal of the Championship' for nothing. That's down to Sean."
If Doncaster lose O'Driscoll they will turn to Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock as a successor.
I know its the sun but i beggining to feel sick, and if this is true then i hope mr ryan is on the phone to nigel adkins.

I don't know if i would want Adkins, but JR did make a comment last year that if Sod ever left he would be the man he wanted to take over at Rovers, now Warnock that would be a good move...

I just don't want to hear the news today, I like Warnock, but he plays hoofball too much for me, if Sean goes then Adkins teams play decent football and he is a good coach, but whether we have enough money to prise him away from Scunny is a different matter. The wheels may be coming off here.....

Adkins would be the obvious man for me now that SO'D has gone. He has performed magnificently given the circumstances at the Scunts.

I tend to think if Warnock got the push a little earlier things may have been a little different 3 years ago
